He Pū Kōrero – He Pā Harakeke – He Pū Kotahitanga

Te Pūkotahitanga - was the Tangata Whenua Ministerial Advisory Group was appointed in June 2022 to provide independent advice on the implementation of Te Aorerekura – the National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence.(external link)(external link)

Te Pūkotahitanga had a significant role in creating family violence and sexual violence systems and supports that are governed and led by, and for, tangata whenua in the best interests of their whānau, hapū, iwi and all communities.

Te Pūkotahitanga contributed to Action 8: Establish a Tangata Whenua Ministerial Advisory Group of Te Aorerekura. This action is part of Shift 2(external link)(external link): towards mobilising communities.

This deep and thoughtful literary review was nearly one year in the making and has gathered a substantial amount of contemporary mātauranga knowledge from Māori researchers in one book. It builds on the previously unpublished resource developed for Interim Te Rōpū.

  

Litany of Sound Webinar - 22 May 2024

Violence within Whānau and Mahi Tūkino — A Litany of Sound Revisited(external link)(external link) is an in-depth literature review that brings together contemporary mātauranga from Māori researchers in one book. This webinar is a wayfinder, to continue the kōrero from this report with speakers who will reflect on research and real-life expertise. The speakers include the author of the book, Denise Wilson, along with Poata Watene, Ngarongo Eaton and Te Whetu Mairangi (Whetu Horo) Balzer-Horo.

Te Pūkotahitanga final end of term report

This report captures the key insights, achievements, and reflections from Te Pūkotahitanga, the Tangata Whenua Ministerial Advisory Group, over their three-year term supporting the implementation of Te Aorerekura: The National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence. It outlines progress made, challenges encountered, and critical recommendations to guide future action by government, iwi, hapū, whānau and communities.

2025 Workforce Survey

This report outlines the current state, strengths, and challenges of the Māori family and sexual violence workforce. This evidence base was commissioned to inform critical decisions about workforce development, capacity building, and system change. Te Rau Ora were commissioned to undertake the research which included a literature review, online survey and consultation hui. The findings affirm and deepen understanding of long-known workforce challenges, drawing on robust engagement with over 250 kaimahi Māori (workers) across Aotearoa.
